Seven Wonders of the Ancient World

The Seven Wonders of the Ancient World is the first known list of remarkable man-made places to see. The Greeks made these lists and used the number seven because it was believed to be the representation of perfection and plenty. The lists were made by historians an scholars and then later compiled in the Middle Ages. Initially Ishtar Gate was the seventh wonder instead of the Lighthouse of Alexandria.
